The Yamboree

I didn't know much about the annual Yamboree (and I still don't) but Billy found out that they had a livestock show and wanted to go (he has a soft spot for cows ;).  So Saturday we headed out to see the livestock.
These cows were all cleaned up and beautiful!!!  It really made us want a farm.  We didn't see any Jersey cows, though, which are my favorite
.
We found this sweet little calf to be so odd looking that we had to take her picture.  Oh, those ears!!!

Charley Kate had a great time.  She wanted to love on everything.  She has mastered the art of "mooing" so we heard quite a lot of that from her the rest of the day!!

We watched the 4H kids show off their cattle.  It was so interesting to hear the guy talk about the cows and why they got 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.  I feel like I actually learned a lot about what's most desirable in a cow.

When we had had our fill of cows we headed over to watch the parade.  The main reason was to see all the princesses (aka the Yam Duchesses and the Yam Queen).  Here's Molly Beth practicing her princess wave.

Jack wasn't nearly as interested in the parade as he was in all the rides.  Unfortunately this wasn't the year for rides.  We needed to head back to watch the Hogs play.

It was super crowded.  Maybe we'll go again next year and let the kids ride the bumper cars and stuff.  It was fun.  It was a Yamboree.
