We Survived Ike

Things lost:
-4 trees
-power for 1 night and 2 days
-about $100 worth of fridge and freezer stuff
-1 night of sleep (the staunch silence kept waking me up!!!! oh, and the heat)
-about 7 feet of fence

Things gained:
-an appreciation for electricity!
-a wonderful, peaceful family night
-fire wood for this winter! HA!
-slumber guests (my parent's power is still not on!)
-a realization that it is never silent in my house....and I'm ok w/ that
-a grateful heart for many things to include kind "neighbors".....especially one's that live on Hoyt! ;)

All in all, we faired very well. My heart goes out to those w/ major damage.

I am so glad you all are okay. We were worried about everyone in Texas as we watched the news up here in WA. You all were in our prayers. Sorry to hear you did have some loss, but it looks like you gained much more. Keep up the positive thinking! Kiss those babies of yours for me.

Having fire wood is always a great thing! When we lived in GA we had a great big bradford pear tree that split 2 or 3 times...that's when Eric bought a chain saw...and we always had plenty of fire wood!
I'm glad the damage was not terrible.
How did your garden come through?

ha! my garden is fine. all i really have left is bell peppers. i pulled up everything else (not the herbs or strawberries....they will come back next year). so, the only thing i was worried about were our pumpkins, but they are doing fine. i'm glad i hadn't planted our fall veggies yet though!!! ;)
thanks for asking, dixie.

Glad to hear that you're back to normal. Lisa and family drove to Paris, TX, Tues. and their power came on in Houston at 2:00 am Wed. They stayed until Fri. and are home now. School will be out until Tues. Talked with David last night and they are coming to Cleveland the Sat. before THanksgiving and will be here until Thurs. You may miss them, but we're glad to hear that they'll be able to make it this year.

Give the kids hugs and kisses for me.

Aunt Donna
